It is the last Thursday of this month, so it is time for a look behind the scenes of Wanderer’s Blues. This edition is full of photographs!
January: facts and figures
The five most popular posts are:
- The five best coffee bars in Antwerp
- Trondheim: 5 tips
- Charlie Hebdo: the importance of freedom of expression
- My travel intentions
- How to travel Norway on a budget?
These coffee bars continue to haunt me ☺ This posts generates mostly search engine traffic. I am glad to see 2 posts about our trip to Norway, because I was still in Trondheim on the first day of this month!
These were my most liked Instagram photos:
Again 3 pics of Trondheim. The Nidarosdom seems popular. As it should be, because it absolutely is an impressive cathedral!
As we were abroad during the Christmas holidays, we had to catch up with Christmas parties once we were back in town. Apparently my blog about Christmas presents for hikers accidently “appeared” on the Ipad of my mother in law. She told the whole family to buy an item of the list… how nice of her!
I got 2 thermoshirts, a set of outdoor cookware including two rubber cups. I also got 2 sets of cutlery. Apparently they were impressed by my description of how I struggled to eat my food with 1 spork 😉 I cannot guarantee that I will eat more polity now, but at least I have the means to do so! I also bought myself some souvenirs in Norway, because I love the Scandinavian design a lot. I immediately fell in love with the colorful wooden houses in Norway. So now I can put a mini-version of these houses in our house. It’s a start ☺
On January 25, I was finally ready to get rid of our Christmas tree. I always want to keep him as long as possible. We sneaky planted him into a nearby forest to give him a second life. After spending so much quality time with this tree, we have built a strong relationship and I could not stand the thought of him burning to ashes on a Christmas-tree-burning-event 🙂
Furthermore, Jeroen and I were invited to a blogger event in Antwerp. We looked forward to it, but it did not turn out to be as expected! The standards of the presentations about SEO were very poor, there was a lot of product placement and there was a mentality like bloggers should be happy that advertisers want to advertise on their blogs. For free of course. Way to go 😉 Sometimes they told so much nonsense that I had to do my best not to burst out laughing. We had a great time, but it was not really instructive. The food was very nice, so that was a bit of a compensation for our wasted time. We got a goodiebag full of beauty products and makeup, which I don’t use at all. You should have seen Jeroen’s look when he found an eyelash curler in his goodie bag and totally had no idea what to do with it 😉
Travelling and travel plans
In terms of travel plans, January was a very good month 🙂 I booked a weekend in Lille in February. I gave my mom a weekend to Lille as a present for Christmas and we did not want to wait too long with that 🙂
And … after a whole lot of contemplating, Jeroen and I finally made the decision: we will go to Japan this summer!!!! We have been dreaming about this for a long time and when I found cheap airplane tickets, we had no single reason to put it off. We were ecstatic when we finally clicked the “book flight” button. All the happy, enthusiastic responses I got on Twitter made it even more fun! Let the travel preparations begin!
